2016 Alder Talent Show receives roaring applause

TS4On Friday, February 19, JAHS hosted its annual talent show. The Talent Show is a fundraiser for The Powderhorn, Alder’s yearbook. This year’s show had 12 acts and lasted about 75 minutes. It was hosted by yearbook staff members Julie Jakse and Tyler Unger. Acts included singing, drawing videos, baton twirling, and instrumental arrangements. All the acts performed fabulously, and the crowd treated them with roaring applause and cheers.

In past years the Talent Show has had four judges; however, today there were only three: Zoe Morgan, Timmy Harmon, and Sabrina Pope. These three senior impersonated members of the Kardashian family, Kim, Khloe, and Scott Disick, a previous boyfriend of Kourtney. All three did a great job with both their acting and with their comments to the contestants.

Not only did the judges do a great job, the contestants themselves performed phenomenal. Participants included: Cassidy Rennie, Gage Sullivan, Grayson Abend, Conor Sintz, Caleb Scott, Christian Hipp, Sydney Hill, Lexi George, Ryan Gutierrez, Noah Lemaster, Andy Gingerich,  Danny Cooper, Daniel Ciuca, Nathan Uhrman, Ivan Wehner, Kennedy Norris, and Shelby Cornelius. Math teacher Ryan Swinehart closed the show with his annual song about math.

This year the yearbook staff also changed up the voting. Before, the voting and subsequently, the winner were decided solely by the judges. This year there were three winners, one chosen by the judges, one by the teachers, and one by the students. Each winning act received a $25 gift card. The judges chose Sintz, Hipp, and Scott’s rock band Three C Body Shop, as one of the winners. The students voted Rennie and her Art Exhibition video as their winner and the teachers voted the sax quartet as their winner. Congratulations to all of the winners; Alder definitely has a lot of talent.
