Adjusting to the expectations and environment as a freshman in high school can be intimidating. To help first year high school students, “The Pioneer Press” asked sophomores, juniors, seniors and staff members to give recommendations to help freshman year run smoothly. Here are the results:

Mr. Glass– “Be involved in as many things as possible- be well rounded.”

Chris Engle ’19– “French is easier.”

Kristen Beachy ’17– “Fake it till you make it.”

Corinne Parker ’19– “Get use to failing tests so then you’re use to failing in real life. Then you won’t ever be disappointed.”

Ivan Wehner ’18– “Saying you used the bathroom is a good excuse to be late.”

Sandy Moser ’19– “If you have free time between classes stop by the pool on the third floor, it’s lit.”

Mr. Clark– “Don’t be mean.”

Lexi Thorpe ’18– “Don’t throw away your notes from the beginning of the year.”

Mrs. Devine– “Listen to your parents.”

Drake Bater ’17– “Walk on the right side of the hallway.”

Mrs. Puckett– “Work really hard your freshman year. It will make your senior year easier, seriously.”

Mr. Aurin– “Listen, make good choices, and be respectful.”

Cal Duckworth ’17– “Call every teacher by their first name.”

Aubrey Wright ’19– “Walk on the right side of the hallway.”

Danny Cooper ’17– “Do your homework and take band.”

Kimberly May ’19– “Focus on academics and nothing else.”

Sasha Hamlin ’17– “Don’t sleep in class.”

Mike Ferrito ’19– “Participate in the football themes.”
