Student Council helps jazz up JAHS entryway

As students returned back to school from holiday break on Tuesday, January 3, they noticed a new addition to the front entryway. The tiered ceiling was decorated with photo collages of students, sports teams, and other extra curricular activities. Each of the four tiers reads a word spelling out “HOME OF THE PIONEERS”.

JAHS principal Mr. Aurin proposed this idea to Student Council who then turned it into reality over holiday break.

Student Council adviser Ms. Russell explained how Aurin made his idea come to life: “Mr. Aurin came to one of our Thursday morning meetings and walked student council members through each aspect of his plans, including ideas for the future.” Russell also described how successfully Student Council conducted homecomings and fundraisers that gave them some extra money to spend, so they decided to help Aurin decorate the entryway. She adds, “I think the final product looks excellent, and I have heard positive things about it from student and staff members.”

When asked his opinion on the new design, senior Patrick Koesters responded: “The new entryway is a great addition because all of the pictures show how unified Alder is as a school.”

Visitors, parents and students are even more easily reminded of the people and programs that make JAHS a great place.
