The Jonathan Alder football team finished the 2015 regular season Friday, October 30, with a 56 to 21 victory over the Fairbanks Panthers. Friday’s routing of the Panthers came mostly from the Pioneer backups, with the majority of Alder starters coming out after the first half.

The Pioneers ended the season with a 9-1 record. The team heads to the playoffs on a roll, currently riding a 9 game win-streak. The team’s lone defeat came in week one, an 18 to 14 loss to Marysville.

The kickoff for the Pioneers’ first round home game is scheduled for November 7th at 7 o’clock. The third-seed Pioneers’ first opponent of the playoffs is the seventh-seed Kenton Ridge Cougars. Kenton Ridge is coming off of a week ten loss to Tippecanoe, 40 to 0. Although Kenton Ridge has lost their last two contests, the 7-3 Cougars will not be taken lightly by the Pioneers. Head coach and science teacher Brett Glass stated, “Kenton Ridge has played two really good teams the last two weeks and their best player has been banged up. We expect him to be at full strength this week. They are a good program who is used to winning.”
