Jonathan Alder mourns student
March 4, 2016
As the school day was starting on Friday, March 4, Jonathan Alder High School and Tolles Career and Technical Center students and staff experienced the loss of student Zachary George, a senior from Jonathan Alder who was currently enrolled in Tolles’ Welding and Fabrication Technology program.
George was heading southbound on US 42 and tried to turn left into Tolles Career and Technical Center when he was struck by a semi heading northbound towards Plain City. George was then transported to OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus where he later died.
Members of the Plain City community as well as JAHS and Tolles students and staff are mourning the loss of the beloved student and soccer player. A community gathering is planned for Sharon Mennonite Church on Amity Pike in Plain City tonight, March 4, at 7 pm. There will also be counselors available to students at both schools for the remainder the day.

My prayers go out to Zach George’s family. I met Zach when his older brother, Brandon was in my first grade class. He was a cute little guy. I got his brother to play soccer in the JASA league.
When Zach was the age to play soccer he begin playing for our JASA league. I also had him in my first grade class. I followed him throughout his soccer with JASA. I once told him,” I can’t wait to watch you play soccer for JA.” I was glad that I got to watch him play JA soccer for 4 years.
R.I.P. You will be missed. Mrs. Wade

I was saddened to read this article and I’m truly sorry this happened to this young man who had a bright future ahead of him and who was to graduate and just a couple of months. I sure hope the semi truck driver is charged. My prayers are with the family at this time

The article reads as if he thought he had enough time to beat the semi but didn’t. God bless him.

This is extremely sad & a young man lost his life way too soon. But why should the truck drive be charged? It’s an unfortunate accident for all involved.

This is so sad. Thoughts and prayers to the family, students and school who have loss another young student. Deborah I’m sure the Semi driver feels bad but they aren’t to blame. He turned in front of the Semi who had the ride away. Those big trucks can stop fast at all. If you read the student made a left hand turn and the semi was coming the other direction. So sad. Thoughts and prayers!!

The truck driver (I’m sure) is very upset as well having to see right in front of him knowing what was going to happen and not being able to stop on a dime like a car. Please pray for the truck driver and his family as well as the family and friends of the life that was lost far too soon.

Do not assume that anyone did anything wrong. It was an accident either way it goes. It’s very saddening, but do not place blame on anyone as both families are both grief stricken. Please respect everyone involved and do not assume that the truck driver should be charged with anything. What if he wasn’t speeding and there was still nothing he could do to prevent the accident? I’m sure he did everything he could to slow down and stop what he knew was going to happen but it just couldn’t be done with the weight of the truck. I’m also sure that he is unfortunately going to relive this moment for the rest of his life and feel guilty for what happened. I’m not saying that anyone was right or wrong in this situation but everyone’s feelings need to be considered. Like I said before, it is very saddening that such a young person lost their life yesterday. Please pray for ALL that were involved in this tragic accident.
