Seniors embrace final seasons

Many of Alder’s senior athletes are beginning their final seasons as Pioneers. Members of the football, boys soccer and girls tennis teams spoke with The Pioneer Press about the end of an era.

Emotions are high as final seasons begin. Preston Eisnaugle, Alder football player, said, “It’s very exciting and kind of sad at the same time. I’m anxious for every game but wish the time wouldn’t go by so fast.” Soccer player Cameron Androw is sad about entering his final season. Mikayla Holland of the tennis team agreed, “I wish it was my first year as a little freshman.”

As they take the field and court, the seniors keep their goals for the season in mind. Androw said, “This season will go very well once the growing pains of our youth and inexperience are gone.” Holland added, “I’m super excited for this new league we are in this year and the new competition.” Eisnaugle is looking for nothing short of perfection.

While it is exciting to look to the future, the memories made as Pioneers will last a lifetime. For Holland, winning the Teays Valley Invitational as a junior is one of her finest moments. Eisnaugle recalls beating Marysville in overtime and making memories with best friends. The goal Androw made on Futbol Friday Night in front of his friends is his favorite memory.

While some seniors will finish their athletic careers at the end of this season, they will be Pioneers for life.
