River Valley Bender Duals

Saturday February 3, the Jonathan Alder wrestling team met at River Valley High School to face off against eight other teams.

The tournament was a dual tournament, meaning whole teams battle each other and move through a bracket depending on which team wins, rather than individual wrestlers fighting to place. However, wrestlers who go undefeated in their weight class are recognized as champions and receive a t-shirt.

Though the Pioneers wrestled hard, unfortunately the team did not place. Despite this, senior Jacob Johnson was recognized as a champion in the 126 pound weight class.

The Pioneers have one more tournament in their regular season before the post-season begins and wrestlers compete at sectionals. If they qualify, they’ll advance to districts and then wrestle for a chance at the state tournament.
