On Sunday, the Alder Indoor Track team competed in different locations. For the first time in Alder’s history, senior Jase Headings ran at the Milesplit Spire meet in Geneva, Ohio, whereas the remaining runners raced at Otterbein.

Headings qualified for the 3rd and final heat for the 800m and did not disappoint, placing sixth overall in one of the most prestigious meets in the country. Headings raced to a 1:58. Headings hopes to use this momentum to qualify for New Balance Indoors Nationals and win the OATCCC Indoor State Championship.

At Otterbein, the Jonathan Alder Girls 4x800m team raced to an impressive time. The team is now ranked 2nd in the state in the D2/D3 division. Led by senior Lexi Thorpe, the team also includes two freshmen and a junior who look to continue to drop time at the State Championship on March 3.

Freshmen Maddie Davis and Morgan Hicks, also on the 4x800m team, placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the 1600m. Junior Maddy Killian raced to a 2:40 in the 800m.

On the boys side, sophomores Luke Malone, Gavin Frick, and Michael Gray all raced the 16/32 double. Malone placed 7th and 4th, Frick placed 12th and 7th, and Gray placed 14th and 17th.

Sophomore Zach Hicks placed 19th in the 1600m and 30th in the 800m.

The Indoor Track team will have their final meet at the Central District Championship at Capital University.
