On February 24, six Jonathan Alder students went to the Ohio State Math Competition, sponsored by the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Those who competed were seniors Madison McMillen and Peyton Mast; junior Sandy Moser; and sophomores Lily Schaefer, Dawson Detweiler, and Ellie Storts.

Good scores on the test can earn you scholarships and an invitation to the Ohio High School Mathematics Invitational Olympiad, which offers the chance for students to earn even more scholarships and cash.

The students took a one hour test in a lecture hall at OSU. After the test, everybody came back to the school and went home.

Math teacher Mr. Matt Carpenter was very proud of the participants. “Everyone did very well, and had a good time,” he said.
