Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that affects 200,000 people yearly in the United States alone.  It can occur anywhere on a person’s body and happens when the pigment producing cells in a person become cancerous.

Mr. Beachy is a member of the I.T. team at Jonathan Alder, and in July of 2013, his wife lost her two year battle with Melanoma.  This caused Mr. Beachy to create the Annual Lisa Beachy Memorial Cornhole Clash, a fundraiser for which all proceeds go to The Melanoma Research Foundation.

On Sunday, September 23rd at Sharon Mennonite Church, Mr. Beachy will host the 3rd Annual Lisa Beachy Memorial Cornhole Clash.  Lunch will start at 12:00 and cornhole will start at 1:00.

The price is 30 dollars per team and this covers entrance into the tournament, lunch, and two team T-shirts.  Any donations would also be greatly appreciated.

When asked what the best part of the tournament was, Mr. Beachy said, “The best part is seeing everybody have fun and, really, the fellowship and camaraderie.”

The tournament originally it wasn’t  a cornhole tournament, but rather a golf outing.  Mr. Beachy later changed the game to cornhole so that it would be more inclusive.

Overall, the Cornhole Clash is a great opportunity to support a good cause and have some fun while doing it.
