Say Something Week Postponed

Tanner Ross, Staff Writer

Jonathan Alder’s Canaan Middle School’s Say Something Week  was planned to start Monday, February 25th and end on Friday, March 1st is postponed to a later date. Say Something Week showcases things to do to prevent school violence and help with mental health. It teaches what the teachers and students should do in the case that something happens inside of the school, or if an individual person is having trouble outside of school as well.

Mr. Keller, Canaan Middle School’s principal, staid, “Say Something Week is on our calendar, but it has been rescheduled.¨ Mr. Keller then went on to say, ¨I am working with our district social worker to reschedule it.”

Say Something Week at Jonathan Alder’s middle school also teaches kids to look for warning signs, signals, and threats in all aspects, including social media, and encourages them to say something to a trusted adult in case of violence or a mental health issue.

In the past, the week has included things  like writing positive notes on classmates’ lockers and lunch activities that promote students getting to know each other–that way everybody can make new friends and will feel welcome.
