As the financial state of Jonathan Alder has improved, new employees have been added to the staff. Athletic and Guidance Secretary Rita Devine was one new addition. Devine is in charge of collecting money at the gates of sporting events, as well as answering the phone in the office and helping to keep records with the guidance staff.

This is new to Devine as she has been a research analyst for Nationwide Children’s Hospital for 20 years prior to this opportunity. As this new experience arose for her, Devine, athletic and guidance secretary, stated, “It wasn’t a dramatic change, because I knew a lot of the staff through my daughter who has attended Jonathan Alder for 12 years, but the staff was still overall very welcoming.”

As Devine settles into her new job, athletic director Tom Vargo, has fewer areas to focus his attention. Vargo no longer holds the responsibility of keeping attendance, and he has less of a responsibility to discipline students. When asked about Devine, Vargo stated, “She has been here since school has started, and I believe that she fits in well and gets along with the staff.”
