The Jonathan Alder boys golf team has been playing some good golf as of late, and in one of their latest showings, that was most definitely the case. Thursday night, Alder defeated Marion Harding 167-200. Joey Petrella shot an even par (36), while also shooting an Eagle on the 2nd hole from 160 yards out. Hayden Mitchell produced well for the Pioneers as well, shooting a +7 (43). Mitchell commented on his performance Thursday stating, “I’m not pleased with the score or my iron play, but my putting and driving were pretty solid.” Through 7 holes Mitchell was shooting a strong +3, but his iron play continued to struggled, shooting 2 straight double bogey’s leading him to drop 4 strokes to his score. Mitchell also expressed his desire to improve his iron play next match saying, “I think I can really improve my iron play. I only hit 3 greens and that made it really hard to score well.” Mitchell also stated he usually tries to hit 5-6 greens a match. Freshman Mychal McKelvey and Tyler Unger were the 2 other scorers for Alder each shooting +8 (44).
Alder currently sits at 10-1, tied for 1st in the MOAC with Buckeye Valley. Alder next faces River Valley on Thursday, September 15th.
