The Pioneer Press intends our comment area to be used to foster healthy, thought-provoking discussion. Comments are expected to adhere to our standards and to be respectful and constructive. As such, we do not permit the use of profanity, foul language, personal attacks, or the use of language that might be interpreted as libelous. Comments are reviewed and must be approved by a moderator to ensure that they meet these standards. The Pioneer Press requires a valid email address and actual name to post a comment. If the healthy, thought-provoking discussion that we aim for is not being achieved on a particular story, we will stop approving comments/turn off comments for that story.

Letters to the Editor & Guest Writing Features:

The Pioneer Press reserves the right to edit letters to the editor or guest writing for clarity, and for AP Style, as well as to fact-check them.

Letters to the editor
Letters to the editor must be relevant to The Pioneer Press’s coverage, addressing issues that affect the Alder and/or Plain City communities. All letters to the editor should be in response to something recently published by The Pioneer Press and/or a recent event in the community. Letters should be signed with the writer’s full name and affiliation with Jonathan Alder (Students: year in school; Alumni: graduation year; staff: position; others: name affiliation as best as possible).

Email all letters to the editor to Mrs. Marling, the Pioneer Press adviser, at [email protected].

Other guest writing

Other guest writing may be arranged for publication on The Pioneer Press through your English teacher (for student featured writing) or through contacting Mrs. Marling to pitch your idea and get pre-approval of the topic. This is a good way for students not able to take our journalism class to get some experience in journalism writing, and we welcome additional voices.

You may contact Mrs. Marling at [email protected].
