The bowling team has completed many achievements this season.
Junior Kat Carson has been bowling with the Alder team for a couple months. She says, “The biggest achievement so far is that we have won against Urbana’s Jamie Hill Climbers for girls.”
This match was significant because it helped the girls’ team grow closer as a group.
Freshman Lydia Roseberry says, “I think our team has grown a lot in friendship and we have all gotten closer as a whole!”
According to the Central Buckeye Conference Girls bowling page, the girls bowling team completed their season with a record 5-12 and the Boys bowling team finished 15-1.

In a sport like bowling, both team and individual records are important.
Senior Drew Damron, who’s been on the boys bowling team since freshman year, says, “I had a 16-1 on the record and I also had a 298 game on the 25 at Districts, which will be a good memory.”
It wasn’t easy achieving all of these goals and achievements; bowling is a challenging sport.
“One thing is the different lanes, because some are oiled differently and it’s harder to find the spot where you have to bowl practically,” says Roseberry. This makes it harder for the team as a whole because it can cause mistakes.
Both teams had setbacks but powered through which helped Damron have a good senior season.
“It was pretty good, the start was rough but… once I started reaching my goals and winning awards, it got better! I am going to miss bowling with my team.”
Damron thinks the biggest setback for their team was missing states.
“States is the highest level of high school bowling and one major setback was because we didn’t make it as a group, so that was a big setback for us.”
While the team didn’t make it, Damron qualified as an individual for state and placed 4th overall in the OHSAA Division 1 State Championship with scores of 187, 240, and 279 for a 705 series. Damron also placed first for the All Ohio Honors tournament.
