Ella Luker is a part of Alder’s cross country team, track team, and the National Honors Society. After graduation, she is hoping to go to college to run and major in psychology.
Q: What’s your favorite memory of your time at Alder?
A: I would so far say, the entirety of my senior year or my sophomore year. I had a lot of fun in my classes. I took a class with Doc Lorson. It was chemistry, and that class was really fun. Just the people and the little memories that I don’t remember, but I know in the moment I was like, wow, this is really fun.
Q: What are three things you can’t live without?
A: My phone. That’s so stupid. But my phone. Probably my running shoes. It’s actually, like, really cringe, but it’s real. And probably noodles.
Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
A: I have to lock my car three times before I can leave.
Q: How would you define yourself in three words?
A: Empathetic, athletic, and caring.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A: Honestly, a lot of stuff that I’ve learned through running. Just because running’s like a metaphor for life. All the stuff. And just taking every day, day by day. And putting forth your best effort each day. Because I know that stuff can get really anxiety inducing. So, honestly, I would just say, putting forth your best effort each day. And just taking it day by day. And just not feeling overwhelmed.
Q: If you made a documentary, what would it be about and why?
A: I guess I would make, I don’t want to say something about running, but maybe just something where it follows, this is kind of specific, but this one always sticks out to me–someone with some sort of mental disability throughout their time, like elementary to high school…Psychology really interests me, and I think it would be the coolest. There’s probably one out there. But, I would probably do something like that.
Q: What is the last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?
A: “The Map that Leads to You” on Amazon Prime with KJ Apa and Madeline Cline.
Q: What is a song you can listen to on repeat?
A: “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” by Jeff Buckley. I love that song.
Q: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
A: I would switch lives with someone who all they do is just travel. And they make money off of traveling and posting content. And I would switch lives with them when they’re in Greece. I would do that in a heartbeat.
Q: What is your dream place to visit?
A: Probably Greece. Or anywhere basically in Europe. I want to travel Europe one day, and go to a bunch of places.
Q: What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had?
A: I think for my birthday last year, when my mom surprised me with Billie Eilish tickets. That was a good one.
Q: What 3 people living or dead would you like to make dinner for?
A: I would make dinner for KJ Apa, Madeline Cline, and Conrad Fisher. You know I would just like chat it up with them about their lives.
Q: What was the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
A: I went indoor skydiving once with my dad, when I was like ten. That was pretty scary. It’s not super adventurous, but I honestly would probably say that, or that I climbed Mount Rainier once.
Q: What would you like to be remembered for?
A: The way that I treat people. I just want people to make sure they feel seen. And heard. And cared for. And always know that I’m there.
