Ali Hayes is the captain of the varsity Alder volleyball team. She is committed to Wright State to play volleyball, but isn’t sure what she plans to study.
Q: What’s your favorite memory of your time at Alder?
A: Just being with the volleyball team in general. I really like the team bonding we did, like the scavenger hunts and stuff. That was super fun. I just like my team and I like being with them.
Q: What are three things you can’t live without?
A: Definitely my phone, my family, and probably like my Red Bulls.
Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
A: Oh, gosh. I don’t even know. I mean, I guess, oh, that’s so basic. There’s like nothing. I broke my arm when I was two.
Q: How would you define yourself in three words?
A: Honest, funny, creative.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A: Probably just to live for Jesus, I’d say.
Q: If you made a documentary, what would it be about and why?
A: I’d probably make it about my sophomore year when I was about to quit volleyball and I didn’t.
Q: What’s the last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?
A: I watched some sad TikTok edits.
Q: What’s a song you can listen to on repeat?
A: Hmm. Oh, my gosh. Can I look? There’s so many. I’m going to have to, like, look at mine. Oh, my. I really like “Money Longer” by Lil Uzi Vert.
Q: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
A: I would probably switch with my mom. I’d like to see what it’s like.
Q: What’s your dream place to visit?
A: Japan. I kind of want to visit Japan.
Q: What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had?
A: Biggest surprise? Oh, when my family told me I was getting a pool; I didn’t know that.
Q: What three people, living or dead, would you like to make dinner for?
A: Oh, I’m a terrible cook, so probably, like, I’d do, like, a singer. It’s probably, like, Megan Maroney or something. She’d be fun to talk to. My grandpa. Actually, both of my grandpas.
Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
A: I don’t really do adventurous things, but…I don’t even know if this counts, but I like swimming out really far in the ocean. Which is, like, scary.
