From the fruit punch concoction to the vines overhanging the lights, Homecoming 2025 certainty wasn’t one we’ll forget anytime soon.
Arrival and First Impressions
At 7:30, we arrive with the sun beginning to set in the distance, and after scanning our tickets, we walk through the vines connecting to the gym. Tables with lanterns tied in with the theme, and the Tangled themed punch with edible glitter with orange juice and lemonade looked and tasted satisfactory. A picture taking stand, while smaller than last year, stood in the corner of the gym taking photos of groups of friends. The first impressions of the dance are an 8/10.
The Music
The array of songs featured ranged from ABBA’s “Dancing Queen”, Pitbull’s “Fireball”, Ed Sheeran’ “Perfect”, and of course, “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. The music was overall a 7/10, as most of the population of the dance did indeed dance, however it left some people unsatisfied. But that of course is subjective. The DJ did a great job of transitioning from song to song. A few members of the crowd said that they wished a better playlist was selected, yet others differed.
The Crowd
The crowd showed a large increase in enthusiasm compared to last year, with a vast majority out on the dance floor at a given time. They even began to crowd surf, which caused the lights to turn on and the music to stop. The DJ announced that someone was gonna get hurt, insisting the crowd spread apart for their safety. The excitement was impressive, and I rate that a 9/10, but sometimes they got a little too excited. The outfits were beautiful, and overall I rate the crowd an 8/10.
The Cost
The cost of the homecoming tickets, found on Hometown Ticketing, cost 11 dollars for the two hours of dancing. As compared to London’s tickets, which were 10 dollars, it seems this is a common price point for a high school homecoming dance.
Feedback
I would say for next year, a concessions booth and maybe outdoor activities on the back lawn where students enter like cornhole or concessions like Lil E’s or pizza would elevate the experience. Having something to do outside if the music is too loud and being able to buy food to enjoy while the music plays in the background would give people more options and things to do at the dance, raising the incentive for people to attend. Places to sit would also be much appreciated for those who need a break, as compared to simply sitting down in the hallway, and whether it’s just some folding chairs or a bench, it would make a big difference.
Overall
Overall, I would say that when you add the cost of the tickets, and factor in the overall experience, it was well worth my time. Socializing and being a part of the crowd was the highlight of my experience, and I would indeed go again. Overall, it’s a 7/10 for me.
