For this issue of “The Pioneer Press”, the staff is shining a spotlight onto sophomore Ethan Cox. “The Pioneer Press” wants to shine a light on students who may not be well known but have displayed great characteristics around JAHS.

“The Pioneer Press” staff chose Cox because of his dedication to academics and involvement in the school. Cox is currently taking a heavy course load that includes AP U.S. History, Studio Art I, Honors Biology, Algebra II, French II and AP Language and Composition. When asked what his favorite subject is, Cox responded, “It goes back and forth between biology and AP Language and Composition. I like Hughes as a teacher but the content in biology is more interesting.”

Cox is considered to be a well rounded student with involvement in French Club, cross country, and boys tennis. Cox even explained that his favorite high school memory thus far has been running cross country with the seniors from the class of 2015. In Cox’s spare time he enjoys playing video games, reading, and spending time with his friends. He also likes to play tennis, swim and attempt to learn to play guitar.

After high school Cox plans to attend college, but at this time does not know where. Cox is planning on majoring in biology, with the hopes to go on and research microbiology.
