Nurse Ward to leave Alder
December 11, 2015
Jonathan Alder’s school nurse Linda Ward has come to the conclusion that it is the right time in her life to retire. Ward will officially leave the district on January 31, 2016, after 30 long years of going between Jonathan Alder schools every week to aid students that are suffering from medical ailments. Ward’s replacement is currently unknown, but the opening for the position has been posted in local newspapers.
Nurse Ward said, “I have been very busy in my career here at Jonathan Alder. I can say that there was never time to be bored while on the job.” Ward’s job has become increasingly more demanding over time due to the steady rise in the amount of students enrolled at Jonathan Alder. Ward has dealt with a large amount of students that had a variety of medical issues from asthma to diabetes to severe allergies.
Ward expressed how sad she was to leave all of the friends she has made over the years. Ward described the decision to leave Jonathan Alder as bittersweet because she will always hold on to the memories she has made in the past while keeping her future plans in mind. When asked about her plans for the future, Ward stated, “My plans for my husband and I are to enjoy our grandchildren, travel when we can, and to rehab an old house we just bought. My husband and I have our work cut out for us.” Ward ended the discussion with a classic line for a school nurse, “Stay healthy.”
