Alder students reveal their secrets to success

Are superstitions real or is it “all in your head?” When asked for any pre-game superstitions that they feel help them to perform better during a game or performance, this is how the athletes answered:

 

Corinne Parker ’19– “I wore my hair in cornrows along with the rest of the volleyball team for Regionals and States.”

Bob Pollum ’16– “I wear the same undershirt for every football game.”

Rena Kirts ’18– “I keep a lucky coin in my pocket for when I bowl.”

Alexa Hasting ’17– “I always have to wear my hair the same for every volleyball game.”

Connor Skidmore ’16– “ I always wear a black armband on my left arm along with the rest of the soccer team.”

Trevor Mitchell ’19– “I wear the same shirt under my jersey for every game.”

Bryan Blacka ’18– “I always listen to the same pump-up music before my games.”

Jake Davis ’16– “I wear the same socks for every wrestling match.”

Austin Hurley ’18– “I always put pine tar on my baseball bat before I play.”

Xavier Beachy ’19– “I have to put my right basketball shoe on before my left.”

Austin Fooce ’17– “I pace back and forth in front of the locker room before Friday night games.”

Daniel Gowans ’17– “I have to be ready to play 10 minutes before my games start.”

Zach Beard ’16– “I can’t listen to any music before a game.”

Jordan Leka ’19– “I always put my right cleat on before my left.”

Sarah Gentil ’17– “I wear my tights backwards for show choir performances.”

Peyton Mast ’18– “I double knot my left basketball shoe but not my right.”

Mikayla Russ ’17– “I have to shimmy before I tumble.”

Mr. Clark– “I always sway back and forth during the national anthem. I can’t keep my feet still.”
