Volleyball beats league rival in 5 sets

       The JA girls volleyball team had an amazing comeback against the Pleasant Spartans on Tuesday, September 6. After losing the first two sets, the team came back strong and won the last 3 sets, 25-20, 25-17, and 15-6. The team was pumped to beat the league rival.

The senior team captains: Julie Jakse, Alexa Hasting, Taylor Izzard, and Maddie Fuller helped the volleyball team by giving positive feedback and keeping a high team energy to finish the last 3 sets strong against the Spartans. Alexa Hasting had the most kills of the match, with 22. While junior, Ally Graves contributed to the team with 14 kills. Sophomore, Kortney Reynolds was strong at the net with 4 blocks. In the back row, Julie Jakse had 21 digs.

The volleyball team fell short against St. Francis DeSales on Thursday, September 8. Corinne Parker had 4 aces against the Stallions. The Pioneers were back in action Saturday against Hilliard Davidson and lost in 4 sets, taking one set off the Wildcats. The next match is Tuesday, September 13 at River Valley High School.
