Students and Staff get in the Christmas Spirit
December 12, 2016
For the first time ever, Jonathan Alder High School conducted a toy drive for the Salvation Army. Throughout the toy drive, students and staff were encouraged to donate gifts. A total of 20 gifts needed to be donated in order to reach the goal. Once taken to a local Salvation Army location, the donated gifts were then given to the specific families and children.
The Pioneer Press sat down with Mr. Aurin for an interview. When asked why the toy drive was important he said, “All the toys are easy to get. It’s a good cause to make sure every kid has a good Christmas.” When asked if he planned on participating in the toy drive in the future he replied, “ Yes! Hopefully, we can increase the number of gifts we donate, considering we have around 500 students in the building.” On Thursday, more than 50 gifts were donated– twice as many gifts than the original goal.
Part of the Christmas season involves spreading joy and cheer onto others. Whether it be donating a gift to a child in need or caroling around a neighborhood, little acts of kindness can go a long way to brighten up the holiday season.
