Boys tennis enjoys early season success

The Jonathan Alder varsity boys tennis team has started their spring season with four consecutive team victories.

The team’s current record sits at an impressive five wins and two losses. The boys dropped matchups against both Buckeye Valley and River Valley. Their season has featured some high quality wins, including match victories against Bishop Ready, Marysville and Central Crossing.

When asked about the team’s feeling about the early season, varsity doubles player and senior Devin Keaton responded by stating, “Our early season success is really inspiring. I really hope everyone continues to play well and keeps building on this momentum.”

Keaton and his partner Connor Dembek, a junior, are enjoying quite a bit of their own success this season, posting a record of six wins and one loss. The varsity team employs three seniors other than Keaton. Patrick Koesters and Tyler Unger both compete in singles and Jack Berry plays doubles alongside his partner, Ethan Cox. Junior Brandon Dembek competes as the team’s top singles player after winning Alder’s annual tennis seeding tournament where prospective players compete in a bracket-style tournament to determine who will play on varsity.
