Alder adopts Texas school

Knowing that disaster has recently struck one of our beloved states, everyone wants to do something to help. That is why the Jonathan Alder High School Student Council and Guidance Counselors have recently adopted a school in Houston, Texas, called Chinquapin Preparatory School.

Chinquapin Preparatory is a school that serves low income students from grades 6 through 12. The building itself sustained damages, but the children have sustained worse. Some of the kids lost everything: their homes, their towns, and their school supplies.

That is why our student council has started a drive. They are asking for basic things like notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, backpacks, and they would appreciate Amazon gift cards as well. Donations will be collected through Friday, September 15 in the guidance area.
