New addition to teaching staff: Mrs. Loy

Chaz Phinney, Tech Editor

When previous history teacher, Mrs. Brar, moved down to the junior high to teach, Mrs. Kristi Loy, a teacher of 10 years and graduate of Jonathan Alder, was happy to fill the gap.

Mrs. Loy teaches 9th grade World History, and 10th grade Honors American History. However, Sociology and Psychology, which were previously taught by Brar, have been picked up by Mrs. Marshall.

Loy grew up in Milford Center, Ohio, and she graduated from Jonathan Alder in 2002. She attended college at The Ohio State University. Before returning to Alder, she taught at London and Highpoint.

While she was in high school at Alder, Loy had a history teacher named Mr. Byers, who inspired her to be a history teacher and acted as her mentor.

Not only is this her home school, but Loy said, “The kids here are amazing. They’re nice and respectful.”

Loy also thinks that starting a culture club here at Alder would be an exciting idea. Members would take trips to different parts of the state and learn about the different ethnicities and cultures that are in Ohio.

Alder is excited to welcome Loy to the staff!
