Freshmen drive for success at assembly
September 20, 2017
Success. Something we always strive for. Something we all want so badly. On September 14, our freshman class got a special visit from someone to teach them about success and to strive for it.
Vince Workman, former OSU and NFL player, took some time to come and visit with the class of 2021 to share his ways to success. Workman is from Dublin, Ohio, and went to The Ohio State University, playing four years of football; he then moved to the NFL and played for the Green Bay Packers.
The point of the assembly was to promote kindness and triumph in life. According to Algebra teacher Kristi Reynolds, what she took away from this empowering visit was that, “Even if you’re from a small town, you can still do great things.”
Some freshman students were asked what they personally took away from the assembly and their replies varied, but the majority said things along the lines of, “Don’t quit” and “Be a leader.” Workman definitely fulfilled his purpose, by leaving the new freshman class feeling empowered and believing that they have the chance to make their lives a success.
