On Wednesday November 14, 2018, the Jonathan Alder National Honor Society inducted new members. The current President of NHS, Sandy Moser, began the ceremony with a speech in which she described the purpose of the organization–to serve their community–and the characteristics needed to be inducted. The qualifications of a member are based off of the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

During the in-school ceremony, the new members recited a pledge, and then were pinned in by someone special of their choice who had previously been in the National Honors Society.

Next in the ceremony was the transferring of offices. President Sandy Moser was succeeded by Lexie Keaton. Vice President Corinne Parker handed down her office to Katie Vaughn. Secretary Aubrey Wright’s successor is Audrey Davis, Madison Baker took over Sarah Harp’s office as treasurer, and historian Ally Kaizer’s successor is Madison Shaw.

Lexie Keaton is excited to be a part of the group, and she is honored to be trusted to run the organization next year. “I will put forth my 110% effort to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible and everyone enjoys being apart of NHS,” said Keaton.

Newly inducted vice president Katie Vaughn hopes to create a fun environment during service projects that help the school and community.  “I expect to have a lot of fun giving back to the community that has given me so much,” said Vaughn.

After the ceremony, the current members, new members, and their families headed to the auditeria to celebrate their induction with photos and cake.
