NHS Blood Drive

Tanner Ross, Staff Writer

Have you ever wanted to help someone? Well, by donating to the Red Cross, you can do just that! At Jonathan Alder High School on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018, the NHS will be hosting a blood drive at the high school in the auditorium between the times of 8:00am to 1:00 pm (9200 US-42, Plain City, Ohio).

Sign ups will be in the auditeria with the NHS members during lunch. “They are taking admission until December 11th, 2018. Outside family and friends can sign- up if they would like,” said Ms. Dollinger, who has been helping with the blood drive. You

must have parental permission for all donations at the age of 16 years old. With a donation, you will be given a t-shirt while supplies last. If the school receives up to 40 sign-ups, a free scholarship will be given to a student at Jonathan Alder.

The process of donating does take some requirements. According to American Red Cross, “Each donor will be used to collect a pint of blood from a vein in the donor’s arm.” They go on to say that each donation will be tested thoroughly for diseases. If this test is passed, they will use the blood and can save up to 3 lives with the blood taken. The Red Cross suggests you take a multivitamin for at least 60 days after the donation to regain iron lost.

If you would like to participate in donating blood to the Red Cross, please have the parental consent form finished and turned in to NHS members in the cafeteria. If you are 17, make sure you are signed up with the NHS members.
