Jonathan Alder’s Art Club Selling Buttons

Victoria Temple, Staff Writer

Jonathan Alder’s Art Club is selling buttons to raise money for supplies.

Jenifer Moore, one of Alder’s resident art teachers, explained that every year the Art Club tries to come up with some sort of fundraiser. “In the past,” she said, “we’ve painted furniture, had art shows, and made Christmas ornaments.” This year, however, there’s a bigger variety of newer students that she didn’t want to leave out.

“There are a lot more students in art club this year that didn’t want to do something intimidating, so we tried to come up with something creative, but not so challenging.” Moore said. They decided that making buttons would be the best course of action, so the students could make whatever design they wanted, and everyone could be involved.

There are a variety of different kinds of buttons made, but if students don’t like any of the buttons they’re selling, then they can place an order and request to customize their own. ¨We just want you to pay for it before you get your button when requesting one.¨ Moore explained if Art club took the time to make it, and someone doesn’t show up for it, it’s a waste of their resources.

¨We’re trying to make enough money to pay back what we had to use to purchase the supplies, but also make a profit so we have enough money for next year’s Art Club.¨

The buttons will be sold during 5th period through the rest of the year, and will cost one dollar each.
