Jonathan Alder traveled once again this week to Kenton Ridge, on October 1. Not only was it a big game for the football team but the band as well. Band director Mr. Hennig is an alumni of Kenton Ridge, modeling the Jonathan Alder Marching Band after them.

The two marching bands have built a close bond to one another, participating in each other’s band shows, doing combined numbers together and being supportive of each other. For halftime the band performed “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic, “Believer” by Imagine Dragons and closed with “Toxic” by Britney Spears.

At the end of halftime 5 more minutes was added and Jonathan Alder and Kenton Ridge took the field together in a combined number of “Since You Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson. In total, 241 band members performed together. This was a surprise for anyone not associated with the band, but the student section could be heard cheering on the band.

Cheering could be heard throughout the entire night from the student section, from the bottom of the bleachers to the top the section filled the stands. The Black Hole theme was Sleep Over At KR, or better known as PJ Night, students could be seen in onesies, slippers and pajama pants.

At the end of the game The Pioneers pulled through and took the win within the last 7 seconds with a field goal from sophomore Charlie Aurin, 24-21. They host Bellefontaine at home on October 8, for the homecoming game.
