Tolles meets Alder

The recently developed Web Design and Engineering courses add to the ever growing list of classes available at Jonathan Alder. A wide variety of students from all grade levels jumped at the opportunity to take these new classes. Alder and Tolles have been working together to add classes from Tolles into Alder’s society.

Junior Sidney Hay stated that she made the choice to take the Engineering course because “It counted as a computer credit and it sounded more interesting than the normal computer classes.” Hay also stated , “We aren’t treated like teenagers. We’re treated like adults and we are given opportunities that challenge us.”

When asked if he had ever taught a similar class, Matt Alice, the new Web Design teacher replied, “I have taught a wide variety of web classes in the past but this is my first year working through Tolles.” Alice also stated, “I love teaching this class, it doesn’t feel like work to me.” The teachers and students are enjoying their decisions to be involved in the first Tolles programs at Alder. The Engineering and Web Design classes are the first of their kind, and if all goes well Alder may see more in years to come.

“My favorite part of this class is Future Friday. We talk about new technology that is coming out and how it can impact our lives,” stated junior Sydney Gower. Gower is currently enrolled in Alice’s Web Design class.

The Web Design and Engineering classes are a big hit so far at Jonathan Alder.  It is confirmed that Alder will be adding more Tolles classes within the next few years.
