Alder siblings contemplate traditions
September 24, 2015
Alder has been making changes over the past couple of years. New classes, different rules, and new clubs have all been added to the high school.
While talking with a few of the students, Senior Jonathan Peters said that a lot of classes in his schedule include classes that were not available when his brother, Scott Peters, was a senior. Peters stated, “There are new AP classes he was never offered.” There are also new computer classes available.
With these new classes being offered to students, it is allowing more variety to choose from and creating smaller class sizes. Jon said that the amount of students in his classes seems smaller than what his brother’s were. According to Peters, Impact and Leo Club were not around for his brother either.
Along with the new classes and clubs, rules have been added and changed. Peters talked about how seniors are not allowed to leave early this year. In the past, his brother had only been at the school for a few classes, then was done for the day. Although they could have early dismissal, the dress code was more strict. Junior Maddie Fuller said when her sister was in high school, the dress code was different. As years passed, the school has eased up on it.
The school has not changed everything though. The athletics department has stayed the same regarding sports teams. Alder isn’t changing everything, but the current changes they have made seem to be acting positively among the school.
