Alder soccer kicks into season

Jonathan Alder’s boys soccer team is having a great start to their season as they stand with their current record consisting of four wins, no ties, and one loss. Team captains junior Alex Moore and senior James Zawodny plan to lead their team to their season’s overall goal of winning districts.

This goal seems very possible as they already defeated their rival Buckeye Valley 4-0. Senior Max Johnson states, “We lack the talent that we had last season, but with the chemistry that we have this year we perform a lot better as a team.” No tournaments will occur for the boys until districts at the end of the season.

As the boys soccer team is enjoying a successful season, the girls team seems to be following suit with a similar record of six wins and one loss. The girls also have a team goal of winning districts this year, which would be the first girls district title that Alder has ever won.

Junior captain Lily Hess says, “It’s undoubtable that soccer season is the best sports season; some of my best life memories are made during soccer. But there is something different about our team. We all naturally get along, as though no friendships are forced. Our team has an unbreakable bond and I would definitely acknowledge the fact that our chemistry portrays part of the reason we are so good this year.” The girls team hopes to beat their rivals Fairbanks and Granville this 2015 season.
