The NFL has many teams going through change. Some are dealing with heavy season-ending injuries, while others are thriving. Here are my important takeaways.

A notable week three injury is the Dallas Cowboys losing star cornerback Trevon Diggs during practice. According to ESPN, Diggs was participating in a one-on-one red zone drill when he was injured. Coach Mike McCarthy said he thought it looked like he came down and ended up stepping on the wide receiver he was practicing with. Clearly, the loss of the cornerback impacted the team. With Diggs, the Cowboys won both games, but in week three without him, the team lost 28-16, even though they were up against one of the lowest ranked teams. Hopefully, the team can figure out how to get through missing Diggs or else the Cowboys are in for a long season.

The Buffalo Bills defense was on fire against the Washington Commanders. The defense as a whole got four interceptions and a touchdown. They also had a total of nine sacks, and 55 total tackles, and even 15 Quarterback hits. These were so fun to watch, especially as a Bills fan. Eventually, they scored so much that it was predictable that the Bills were going to win, 37-3 to be exact.

Speaking of winning, how could I not mention the Miami Dolphins week three 70-20 win against the Denver Broncos? Each week the Broncos have been losing worse and worse and have yet to win a game with new Head coach Sean Peyton. The Dolphins, though, were looking very strong and are undefeated so far. They scored the most points by an NFL team since 1966. Miami’s starting quarterback Tua Tagovalioa had four touchdown passes, and even backup Mike White had one, too, once they took Tagovailoa out. This game did not seem in favor of the Broncos though, since they had multiple touchdown’s revoked.

One more important thing from this third football week would be the amount of hype from when Taylor Swift came to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play, specifically tight end Travis Kelce. The NFL ended up getting a 400% increase in viewers and jersey sales. I was surprised to see all the Taylor Swift fan signs there, along with how many people were tuning into the game.

As we look towards week 4, keep an eye on how backup players are doing in the face of injuries across the league–there are plenty!
