About
The Pioneer Press is the school news site/newspaper for Jonathan Alder High School. Our goal is to share high school news with other district schools and the Alder community.
As a student-produced, school-sponsored site, material and opinions in The Pioneer Press may not represent the opinions of the Jonathan Alder Local School District, its faculty, administration, Board of Education, or affiliates.
We welcome your feedback and invite you to contact us at [email protected].
Comment policy:
According to board policy, “All school-sponsored student publications and productions are nonpublic forums.” Therefore, we do not have an open comments section.
Letters to the Editor & Guest Writing Features:
The Pioneer Press reserves the right to edit letters to the editor or guest writing for clarity, and for AP Style, as well as to fact-check them.
Letters to the editor
Letters to the editor must be relevant to The Pioneer Press’s coverage, addressing issues that affect the Alder and/or Plain City communities. All letters to the editor should be in response to something recently published by The Pioneer Press and/or a recent event in the community. Letters should be signed with the writer’s full name and affiliation with Jonathan Alder (Students: year in school; Alumni: graduation year; staff: position; others: name affiliation as best as possible).
Email all letters to the editor to Mrs. Marling, the Pioneer Press adviser, at [email protected].
Other guest writing
Other guest writing may be arranged for publication on The Pioneer Press through your English teacher (for student featured writing) or through contacting Mrs. Marling to pitch your idea and get pre-approval of the topic. This is a good way for students not able to take our journalism class to get some experience in journalism writing, and we welcome additional voices.
You may contact Mrs. Marling at [email protected].
