District Response to Earlier Publication

District+Response+to+Earlier+Publication

Earlier today, an opinion piece appeared on the Pioneer Press.  The piece has been temporarily removed due to inaccurate attributions.  The article cited information from a counterfeit social media account impersonating a School Board Member. We as The Pioneer Press want to take time to correct the article with care before we republish with an editor’s note acknowledging the previous version.

The following is a statement from the District: “The Pioneer Press opinion piece was removed solely for inaccuracy and a failure to adhere to journalistic standards and integrity. The District values the opinions of our students but believes accuracy is of the utmost importance. We aspire to use these teachable moments to elevate our standards of excellence.”

The article in question correctly captured Bruce Hooley’s condescending nature. His bigoted deleted tweets and lies deserve to be heard by everyone in the JA school district. Every child, student, and parent deserves to know who is on their school board and their past and current viewpoints. I applaud Maddie Saiter for speaking out and hope that her piece is republished.
