The class of 2020 is the first class of Jonathan Alder to have the option of taking Spanish in junior high. The 2015-2016 school year is the first year that Spanish I is being taught at the junior high level.

With Spanish I now at the Junior High, this gives the current eighth graders an opportunity to get a head start on their foreign language. As well as a head start on whether or not they enjoy Spanish, and potentially what they want to do in the future. Jessica Flere, Spanish teacher and Spanish club advisor, goes to the junior high during the day and teaches one class of Spanish one. Flere stated, “The eighth graders are a lot of fun.”

Kelsey McDonald, eighth grader, stated, “I know a lot of people who wanted to get into Spanish when we were deciding our electives last year.” Flere has to share a room with the health teacher. Lindsey Potter, eighth grader, stated, “It’s really funny because Mrs. Flere is always talking about how her room at the high school has so many posters and the walls in the room she uses are just, white.”
