Tyler Ogg is a Senior at Jonathan Alder High School. In his free time, Ogg plays on the golf team. We sat down with Tyler Ogg as a part of our 23 with ‘23 series to spotlight 23 different members of the class of 2023. 

 

Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

A: I used to be a competitive karting driver, racing karting.

 

Q: What’s your wakeup ritual?

A: 5:50 and 6 a.m. alarms, get up at 6:05, use the restroom, go back to my room, change, go back to the restroom, and then brush my teeth, do my hair if I need it, and then go downstairs, make breakfast, eat breakfast, and then sit down for about 20 minutes. And then leave at 7:07 to come here.

 

Q: What’s your go to bed ritual? 

A: Get a water bottle because I like to sleep cold and chugging a water bottle helps, a snack if I’m hungry, and a melatonin gummy, and then try to have my phone off by 10.

 

Q: What’s your favorite time of day and why?

Probably sunset. Not really a specific time. Just serenity, I guess.

 

Q: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?

A: Elon Musk because I want to Tweet some things. 

 

Q: Dream country to visit?

A: I’d say going to the Maldives for, like, a honeymoon or something would be a dream trip.

 

Q: What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had?

A: I don’t know how many years ago, but my parents surprised me after I got off the school bus. My parents surprised me with a golf cart, and I got that for the first time, so it was cool.

 

Q: If your life was a TV show, what song would be in the intro?

A: Whatever the most recent Lil Nas X song is. 

 

Q: What are three things you can’t live without?

A: Food, water, shelter.

 

Q: What 3 people living or dead would you like to make dinner for?

A: Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus.

 

Q: Window or aisle seat?

A: Window.

 

Q: Secret talent?

A: I can juggle a golf ball on the club.

 

Q: Most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?

A: I used to be a camp counselor, which was chaos and we just traveled doing stuff.     

Q: How would you define yourself in three words?                                                                

A: Accepting, encouraging, positive.

Q: What’s inspiring you in life right now and why?

A: Tiger Woods. Just the multiple comebacks, just because I already look up to him and he’s had to come back from a lot and it seems to be working as of now.

 

Q: Best piece of advice you’ve received?

A: Head down. Shut up. Prove it. 

 

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Any kind of positive legacy, whether it’s a mindset or any kind of socialization, I guess.

 

Q: Best thing to happen to you today?

A: Somebody help me with my homework.

 

Q: Worst thing to happen to you today?

A: I burnt my mouth on my rice for lunch.

 

Q: If you made a documentary, what would it be about and why?

A: The life of a high schooler who doesn’t exactly know what’s going on here, just because that’s exactly what’s happening in most people’s lives at this point.

 

Q: Last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?

A: I watched “A Dog’s Life” probably three years ago. That hurt really bad.

 

Q: Song you can listen to on repeat?

A: “Solo” by Future.

 

Q: On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you about life right now?

A: Seven. There’s a few things to look forward to, but in the present it’s not amazing.
