Boys’ soccer kicks off to fast start

prsoccer    The boys’ varsity soccer team has played seven games so far in this young season. The captains for the varsity team are seniors Nick Salzler, Alex Moore, Riley Thomas and Hunter Eudaily. The head coach of the Pioneers is David Lanka.

    They played their away games at Columbus Academy, Hamilton Township, River Valley and Marysville. They played at home against East Knox, Galion and Grandview Heights. The soccer team has yet to lose a game this year, going a near-perfect five wins with two ties. They beat Hamilton Township, River Valley, East Knox, Galion and Grandview Heights. They tied with Columbus Academy four to four and tied with Marysville, one of their rivals, one to one.

    The team’s most valuable players so far are Nick Salzer, Riley Thomas and Alex Moore, all seniors. The underclassmen most valuable player is Cameron Andrew. When asked who the breakout players are this year Moore had this to say, “Our team’s breakout performers so far are Daniel Chuica and Evan Knox. They have surprised a lot of people this year and are vital to our team’s success” The boys soccer team plays their rival Fairbanks on October 13.
