Lady Pioneers begin season with 14-3 record

    The Jonathan Alder varsity softball team went 3-0 at the Wendy’s classic in Ashland, Ohio by beating Leo, Loudonville, and Paint Valley HS. The team’s overall record is currently 14-3 after losing to River Valley twice in the MOAC and Central Crossing in non-conference play.

     The varsity team consists of freshmen: Emily Walker, Jillian Jakse, Maddy Grove, Cierra Clark, Lindsey Potter, and Sophie Headings. The sophomores are Angela Brandel, Erinn Jackson, and Caitlin Craig. The juniors, Katelyn Perkins and Rachel Dembek, while the 2017 seniors are Chloe Grove, Haley Wagner, and Kayla Fredendall.

     Fredendall has been on fire lately with three over the fence home runs, while Clark hit a homerun on Monday, April 24 against Buckeye Valley. The tournament draw for the Lady Pioneers was Sunday, May 30. They got 3rd seed in the central district for division II. According to Fredendall, “We have been working hard as a team to improve each practice, and I believe we will go far in the tournament.”

    The Lady Pioneers next game is Tuesday, May 2 against Bishop Ready for senior night.
