As football season begins, so does the spirit and support of the Jonathan Alder cheerleaders. The 2015 football season marks Coach Danielle Warner’s third year as head coach. Since her addition to the coaching staff, she has really transformed the spirit and image of the cheerleaders, as well as, encouraged the relationship between the band and varsity cheerleaders.

The varsity cheerleaders include: seniors Morgan Sarver and Ashley Ellis; juniors Morgan Blain, Mikayla Russ, Lyndsey Lovejoy and Emily Wilson; sophomores  Sernia Chapman and Vanessa Straley. The junior varsity consists of juniors Aly Workman and Lexy Headings; sophomores Kodie Griest, Lexi Wolgemuth, Elise Bailey, Jillian Roaden and Megan North; freshman Morgan Hess.

Every year the varsity cheerleaders decide the themes for the football games. Upcoming themes include: red out, black out, color wars, camo night, pink out and trick or treat. Thus far, the cheerleaders have been very impressed by the student section’s participation. Senior Morgan Sarver stated, “I was very impressed by toga night and the white out. I truly hope it continues because it’s a much more fun environment with students there.” At every themed game the cheerleaders try to throw out t-shirts and footballs to the student section, but they always reward the most spirited person with a gift card to AMC Theatres, Subway, Cold Stone Creamery and will soon be offering free admissions to the games for the winners.

When asked what her favorite part of the season has been so far, Blain responded, “I really love my team this year. Bonding with them has made the season enjoyable.”
