Emily Firlik is a majorette, and is the featured majorette and majorette captain for the marching band. She also participates in competition baton. After high school, Emily plans to attend Ohio State University for medical laboratory science.
Q: What’s your favorite memory of your time at Alder?
A: The majorette banquets, like our end of the year banquets. They’re really fun.
Q: What are three things you can’t live without?
A: My phone, my bed, and my car. I love going on drives.
Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
A: I’m the national two baton champion and national duet champion.
Q: How would you define yourself in three words?
A: Outgoing, team-player, and amazing.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A: Don’t stress out too much because whatever happens, happens.
Q: If you made a documentary, what would it be about and why?
A: Just about baton, because it’s a pretty not-well-known sport. So I feel like a documentary to tell people about it and get it out there.
Q: What is the last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?
A: The monkey that got abandoned by its parents who carries around an IKEA monkey, Punch. That made me tear up.
Q: What is a song you can listen to on repeat?
A: Right now I’ve been listening to “Stateside” by Pink Pantheress featuring Zara Larsson a lot.
Q: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
A: Mr. Koester.
Q: What is your dream place to visit?
A: Europe, like France and Germany and Greece. I want to go to Greece so bad.
Q: What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had?
A: Winning two baton champion two years ago, because it was not a very good routine, but I won.
Q: What 3 people living or dead would you like to make dinner for?
A: My coach, Nichole Manring, my grandpa, and Punch the monkey.
Q: What was the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
A: I fed squirrels once at nationals. I fed them peanuts. That’s not very adventurous, but it was kind of scary.

A: Just being a good, nice, kind and amazing person
